Expansions, development, and investments
Since securing a major private investment 3 years ago, we have grown and expanded into 5 depots across the UK: Stockport, Shildon, Glasgow, Leeds, and Rugby. With the addition of our newest depots, Leeds, and Rugby, we now have the employee and transport capacity to carry out around 200 delivery drops per day.
We have also expanded our team at Kellars to over 130 employees, including multiple Level 3 apprentices in the Health and Safety admin, Design/Marketing, Accounts, and Transport departments. Kellars now have over 220,000sq ft of warehouse space, allowing more opportunities for stock holding, warehouse or truck driver job prospects and an increase in fleet trucks.
The Flooring Show Harrogate
It’s official! Kellars are exhibiting their 150sqm showroom and exhibition at this year’s unmissable Flooring Show Harrogate. Dave Francis, Kellars Director says, “This year will be Kellars’ third show, and it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase our new products and point of sale” We are looking forward to attending the event and meeting upcoming retailers from the industry and other businesses in the UK.
Kellars are very excited to attend this year to discover new trends, show off their brands and source the latest products along with more than 250 brands and companies that will attend the event.
Transport
We have recently invested into 10 new DAF LF/230 16 tonne transport trucks which will be arriving in Autumn this year. Over the previous 12 months, we have expanded our fleet of trucks and transport by investing over £6 million into this area of the company alone. This will ensure that we can meet and exceed the need for flooring in the UK.
The addition of this fleet will allow us to cover more than 40 routes across the UK. The DAF LF is the perfect distribution truck for both operators and drivers. The high load capacity and excellent manoeuvrability sets new standard in distribution.
The investment at Kellars in the transport department has been huge, and our main venture in the previous 6 months has been our 5 large ship containers where we import our products from overseas. Across our 5 depot locations, we receive over 40,000sqm of flooring per day to ensure that each of our depots are heavily stocked with each product, whether it be Carpet, LVT/SPC, Vinyl, Laminate, Artificial Grass, Underlay or Accessories.
Edapp
In April this year, we introduced Edapp to our 130+ employees at Kellars across our 5 locations in the UK, to provide free online training for each department. Edapp aim to take training, learning and development further with a platform designed specifically as a m-learning system, and Kellars are always striving to make the company better each day.
Each depot has successfully passed over 80% of the courses on Edapp, with Rugby in the lead, with a 100% pass rate, meaning that this has been a successful venture for the employees at Kellars.
RTITB: Banksman Instructors course
At Kellars 4 of our employees have successfully passed the Banksman Instructors course provided by RTITB. The course is designed to help our HGV fleet safely reverse into the loading areas. This can also help our customers by reassuring them that all our drivers know the hand signals which means increasing the overall safety and knowledge of our drivers.
RTITB are trained to be the UK’s best instructors, who all come with real world transport and logistics experience.
