Flooring Innovation awards: Category Winner for new brand and marketing

Celebrate with us on the achievement of the Category Flooring Innovation Award for our Forma Laminate Collection.

This year we have been working hard behind the scenes, developing our new Kellars branding, and have successfully achieved the award for new Brand and Marketing concepts.

This a fantastic and humbling accomplishment for Kellars and our Design & Marketing team in such a short space of time since developing our company and collection brands throughout the year.

Follow our journey throughout 2021 and into 2022 on social media for the latest launches, brand developments and company progress.

Deborah Duffy – Staff profile

Senior Stock Controller, Deborah Duffy took no time in getting into the swing of things here at Kellars after she joined us in March this year.

For the past 20 years, she worked her way through different roles and positions in the procurement supply chain within manufacturing and distribution.

“After spending many years in the supply chain, I was ready for a career change, a different opportunity and industry so I could challenge myself to something that I hadn’t worked on before”

With no experience in the flooring industry prior to her role here, Deborah jumped at the opportunity when she was offered the job and was willing to learn the ins and outs of this role. She has been a fantastic addition to the team in our NE depot office.

After 6 months of gaining new skills and developing her knowledge in the flooring industry, The Senior Stock Controller is responsible for analysing specific data ranges, ensuring stock is available in all locations, booking in deliveries, and developing customer relationships.

“This role certainly keeps me on my toes, but I love the challenges each day, and there is always something new to work on with the rest of the team”

Away from work, Deborah loves to shop, and spends time exploring different places with her daughter and stepson on weekends. She also enjoys socialising with friends outside of her busy schedule.

Biffa Waste Management:

Kellars have recently partnered with Biffa waste management disposal, and we have now diverted our waste from our depots, to then become recycled rather than sending this to landfill sites to help with carbon footprint.

This alteration has played a huge success in the efficiency of the workplace and warehouse, and the regular waste collection process has ensured that we are working in an environmentally friendly place.

Biffa is a multi-site management system, which works perfectly for Kellars now that we have expanded to 5 locations across the UK, meaning that we are working consistently, no matter the area we are based.

Our Harrogate experience:

Now that the biggest flooring event of the year is over, we have taken some time to reflect on what has been a weekend full of excitement, success, and inspiration.

The atmosphere of the show gets better each year, and due to no event in 2020, this year proved to be the biggest show yet, for Kellars and the Flooring Show itself!

After developing each of our 6 brands, as well as our Kellars company brand, we couldn’t wait to show you what we had been working on up until the show.

Our 150sqm stand proved to be quite a success across Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and we had over 2500 guests and customers pass through our stand and showroom.

With a constant flow of guests and visitors in our stand, we asked their opinion on their experience they had throughout the event and exhibition at Kellars.

Geoff Abernethy, Northern Head of Sales said: “It was great to be back at Harrogate after an enforced absence. Fantastic show, and phenomenal success, bring on next year”

Visitors who attended the show described our exhibition stand as “modern and unique” with an “amazing reception, friendly staff and sales representatives which were always available to help and give advice”

But the progression doesn’t stop here, we are always looking to further develop our brands and overall company identity to step up the standard of branding and marketing in the flooring industry.

We received some fantastic reviews on our products, stands and overall appearance of the exhibition, and have something very exciting coming soon to recap our journey at the show.

We are already looking forward to next year and can’t wait to begin working on this project again! See you in 2022…

Transport: 8 new recruited drivers

In the transport department, we have been busy recruiting 8 new drivers to ensure that we can meet and exceed the need for flooring in the UK.

Over the previous month we have employed 4 drivers in Rugby, 2 drivers in Scotland, 1 driver for each of our Shildon and Stockport depots.

With the increased demand for products, these class 2 drivers will be working in 10, 16 and 18 tonne trucks across these 4 locations.

Our Cumbernauld depot has also opened us up to more motorway routes for easier access when delivering our products in our branded fleets.

POB’s

In September, we awarded 3 of our staff a ‘Pat on the back’ (POB) for their hard work and dedication at Kellars.

Our 3 successful winners were Ruth Hatton in 1st place, Matthew Reide in 2nd place and Michael Oldroyd in 3rd place.

Matthew and Michael both are drivers, in the transport department, and Ruth is our Scotland depot Manager.

Congratulations Ruth, Matthew, and Michael from us all at Kellars!
