November Newsletter

After a busy month in October, it’s time to reflect on a successful and exciting month here at Kellars in our November Newsletter.

Staff Profile: Zack Taylor

Since joining Kellars in 2020, Zack Taylor, our 24-year-old Area Sales Manager has brought his enthusiasm and sales knowledge to our team of reps at Kellars.

The Northeast representative began his flooring journey working at one of the largest flooring stores in the Northeast, initially based in a warehouse.

It took no time or the youngster to gain a series of promotions and worked his way up to a sales role in 4 of the company’s stores.

Prior to joining Kellars, Zack spent time working for a company supplying flooring products to the new build and care home sector across the Northeast.

At such a young age, Zack already built up a bank of experience in different sectors and industries, so was keen to jump a new challenge at one of the largest wholesalers in the UK.

With responsibilities across the Scottish border, Northeast Coast, and Yorkshire Dales, Zack certainly has his hands full each week.

Roles as an Area Sales Manager include much more than selling products and stands to our customers. Building relationships, along with presenting, promoting products and brands supplied by Kellars is the main role as a Sales manager.

“Visiting around 40 customers per week, new and existing customers per week is how I spent most of my time as a representative across the NE, Scottish border and Yorkshire Dales area”

In the 18 months Zack has been a part of the team at Kellars, he has been given the fantastic opportunity to take on a larger area, which is North Tyneside, which will allow him to expand his experience in the next few years.

“In September this year, I was lucky enough o be able to put my skills to work at the 2021 Flooring Show in Harrogate, where we promoted our 6 brands and multiple stands to new and existing customers”

With Harrogate being a highlight of the year for Zack, he is already looking forward to 2022 and says “The 2021 Flooring Show was an incredible experience for me, gaining fantastic feedback and having such an eye-catching stand made the atmosphere even better”

Zack spends his work free weekends taking day trips, and having lazy Sundays with family and friends, along with watching Newcastle United getting beat the majority of the time!

Story 3: Community Centre grass fitting

Last minute month, Kellars kindly supplied Auckland Youth Community Centre in Bishop Auckland, County Durham with their Everturf Artificial Grass to help complete their outdoor garden project.

Auckland Youth Community Centre is a vibrant, much loved community hub welcoming children, young people and families on the Woodhouse Close estate and surrounding area since 1964.

Over the generations, the centre has established itself as a well-loved, accessible, and affordable community hub where people feel safe, reassured, engaged, and connected.

Nadine Kipling, Company Secretary/Treasurer for the Board of Trustees says “We want to help build a safer, stronger and more cohesive community, where opportunities and self-development are accessible by all”

“AYCC aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in the local community”

The beginning of October saw Kellars generously donate their artificial grass to add the final touches to the outside sensory garden at the centre.

Supplying our high quality, safe and soft artificial grass will positively impact the learning and support of the children in the centre, by introducing a safer and more inspiring environment.

Nadine says “We are extremely grateful and want to say a massive thank you to Kellars for the contribution of their Artificial Grass, and this has been a great way for us to upgrade our sensory garden to create a welcoming environment for our children and learners”

Having vibrant and joyful surroundings in the garden helps encourage the children to take part in learning tasks, activities, interventions, and events lead by a dedicated and friendly team of trustees, staff, and volunteers.

We would also like to thank Anthony Wright, Andy Stephenson, Brandon Keller, and Jack Snell who fit the grass in the centre free of charge. You can call Anthony on 07861 377 798 for all flooring fitting enquiries

Manual Handling course:

More success has been achieved at Kellars, our two employees Guy, Project Manager and Jess, Health and Safety Business Administrator have qualified in Manual Handling H&S.

The training course took place in our Northeast Depot in Shildon with Pristine Condition International, who go by the slogan ‘lift well, live well’

Pristine created a bespoke and tailored course so that the participants would receive demonstrated specific training for their role.

With, 300 years of weightlifting knowledge, CEO Davy Snowdon MBE was a conditioning expert for the Great Britain Olympic Weightlifting Team.

He used his knowledge wisely and passed this down the generations and into his founded company ‘Pristine Condition International’

Health and Safety is up there with our top priorities at Kellars, in both office and warehouse, so using this provider who have over 25 years of experience and global success was a fantastic choice for us.

The course was made up of both theory and practical aspects, where each employee was assessed when carrying out tasks practically and safely using the four principles of manual handling, giving the Kellars team a fantastic understanding on how to carry out tasks efficiently.
