Six questions with Chris Kelly: Area Sales Manager

We catch up with Chris Kelly, West Yorkshire Area Sales Manager at Kellars, as he joins us on our exciting journey into 2024. Let’s get into our 6 quick-fire questions, and dive into his experience so far at Kellars.

Have you always been in the flooring industry?

I moved into flooring retail in 1988 straight from school. I learnt all aspects of the trade,  from understanding carpet fitting,  manufacturing, planning and estimating. In my early twenties, I thought the time was right to leave retail, and move into flooring wholesale. Firstly, at Rolf & West, then Wilkies, and finally Furlong Flooring. In 2006, I decided it was time to open up my own Flooring retail store. I’ve spent the last 17 years building and nurturing my own business.

Why did you join Kellars?

Earlier this year I decided to look for a new challenge. It was certainly an easy decision to join Kellars. They are the largest independent supplier in the country, and have always been impressed by their offering and output of new products along with their ambition to continue growing all aspects of the company.

Future aims?

I’ll be aiming to develop my designated area, and push the Kellars brand in new directions, alongside the fantastic team of other Kellars Sales Managers.

Favourite thing about Kellars?

After just a few months of working with the company, it has to be the people. From Sales staff, to the Directors. Everyone is willing to help and support each other, as we are all working towards both common and individual goals.

What’s your favourite stand?

I love the design of our Carpet brand,  along with our fantastic selection of stands. In particular, the new Lazio and Sorrento products caught my eye. It was clear from our clients reaction that these two products will be instant industry leaders.

Describe your 2023 Flooring Show experience:

Wow! The stand, the atmosphere and support from customers was amazing. The weekend really proved how much of a strong team we are, and this is certainly a huge part of why Kellars has became so successful in such a short period of time. Long may it continue!
